Director of Nursing

Job Description

North Kern Tulare Hospital District is looking for an experienced Director of Nursing to join our dedicated team of nurses offering Skilled Nursing Care to our residents at Delano District Skilled Nursing Hospital.

Job Purpose

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the overall management of the Nursing department. Participates in the development of standardized clinical and business operations at the organizational level.
  • Responsible for staff performance, staff recruitment, staff retention, and staff development.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Defines and maintains the standards of nursing practice in the facility.
  • Provides oversite of the quality assurance and process improvement program in coordination with the organizational structure and goals. Ensures timely and appropriate response to customer/family concerns, patient safety concerns and clinical processes.
  • Initiates the development of policies and procedures that govern nursing services and other services under his or her supervision.
  • Collaborates with other departments and agencies regarding resources and services for improved patient care and staff development.
  • Plans, develops, and implements a budget process for staffing and services rendered.
  • Evaluates the quality and cost-effectiveness of staffing and services within the goals of the facility.
  • Serves as a spokesperson for nursing matters and represents the SNF with professional nursing and related organizations.
  • Participates in meetings and committees.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualification

  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including having received booster shots and have proof of vaccination status.
  • Experience in Skilled Nursing/long term care Environment
  • Experience with PointClickCare
  • Advanced education in principles of management as well as geriatrics or DON certification
  • Ability to lead and develop staff
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education

  • Registered Nurse with a current state license.
  • At least three years of supervisory experience in a skilled nursing/long term care environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and moving
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Salary:

  • Salary range commensurate with education and experience.

Work Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, 8a-5p with occasional Overtime
